Covered Faces & Heads

As we have said before they can be seen as a screen between us and the world or as a tool to hide from our view what we do not want to see.  Connected to this, we have also seen representations of double as well as triple faces.  As if times of war were not just times to hide ourselves but to question what we are capable of doing:

times to put on different faces, to question ourselves about how many personalities we have and which one we are actually "wearing".

This is one of the movie of the 11 movies series.

This series were made by 11 young chinese film directors.

Ikon Gallery Birmingham

Few days ago, I went to Ikon to see Robert Orchardson's and Marjolijin Dijkman's exhibitions.

The name of Orchardoson's exhibition is Endless Facade.  He used repeatable geometric patterns to create the infinity.  Even the wall was structured by triangles.

Dijkman's exhibition name is Theatrum Orbis Terrarum.  Most of the art pieces are pictures taken from different countries, taken on something you will normally miss.  His design concept was come from the first atlas.  In the centre of the exhibition, there was a map created from circles.

Fabric Day

Went to buy the fabric and buttons for my final design today.  It costs me more than 20 pounds!!  I guess is I used more fabric this time and the fabrics are patterned...  but when comparing to the london stripy 25 pounds fabric, these fabrics are a lot cheaper...

So lucky that I went to buy fabric today because I got the last bit of the stripe fabric...  I was thinking will she offer me a cheaper price and ask me to buy the rest of them...  but yes...  here is not Hong Kong...

Very pretty fabric, but is 8 pounds per meter...  and a lovely cute button...

Spring/Summer 2012 Shirt Project

I am busying with the shirt project these days with my first menswear collection!  My trend this time is Modern Techno and my target brand is D&G Spring/Summer 2012.

From the classic wind-up toys to the current electric toys.  Then use the current technology and develop back the classic toys.  Like the iPhone app on lomograph.  Using iPhone to take pictures and add on the effect of a toy camera.

After these harsh two weeks, I have finally chosen my final design.  Though is not the one i love most...

Is really a convenient way to use collage to draw designs.  The template of the male model body was found on style.com and the head of the robot was found in google.  Then i used photoshop to tuned down the colour on the original clothes and pasted the robot head on.

Home-made light box by the table lamp.

Everywhere was paper, need to clean it up every few hours.
